We have recently finished a block paving service in Rednal, Birmingham. The drive was originally a front garden with a wall situated at the front and hedges running alongside the front garden which all had to be removed in order to create car parking space. The block paving itself took 1 day to lay & cut in however the whole block paving driveway installation took 4 days which from start to finish. On the 1st day on this block paving service the Elegant team had begun by knocking the front wall out & hand digging the front garden out as we could not get access to remove the waste via machinery.
On the 2nd day of we had to remove some more waste and we had compressed the ground before putting down, spreading & compressing the hard core MOT type 1 before which ensures a strong foundation for us to progress with the rest of the block paving service. Day 3 we had laid in the block paving border with a semi dry sand & cement mix to ensure a strong secure border for the next step on day 4 but before moving on we had to level a wet bed of sand & cement to place the ACO drainage system and then leave it to set so we could move on to the final stage of this block paving service. On the 4th and final day we had laid, spread, compressed and then screeded (levelled) the sand to finally lay the block paving in and then had to finally cut in where full blocks would not fit and then kiln dried sand the drive which not only locks the blocks in but also gives a beautiful finish to this block paving service
